This is a classic image rendered late in the career of Paul Colin, the legendary Art Deco poster artist. The stripes of the French flag permeate this proud image for the great French Line, evoking all of the glamour of the great age of travel.

Colin produced more than 1400 posters, and along with Jean Carlu and Cassandre was considered one of the "Three Musketeers" of French Art Deco poster art. His fame was made in 1925 with his appointment as decorator for the Theatre des Champs-Élysées where he created the first poster for Josephine Baker's Revue Négre.
