A rare, large format poster for Louie Ganne's comic opera "Hans the Flute Player", a fairy tale set in an imaginary country. Hans is the hero, an idealistic Pied Piper who rescues the city from a plague of mice with the cats he rallies to his cause. The poster was created by Leopoldo Metlicovitz, one of Italy's greatest poster artists and director of Ricordi's famed printing operation in Milan.
