This is one of the most popular of all Italian posters, which has found its way into more than one kitchen and rustic dining room. The image shown here is a cartone, or small cardboard store display sign; it is also available in a full-size poster version. Its exuberant depiction of Italian abundance was what had brought Boccasile early prominence. In the late '30s, he created a series of covers for the Italian magazine Le Grandi Firme (Celebrities) of the same voluptuous Italian woman who would become the model of feminine beauty in Italy. Boccasile would continue to be one of the leading Italian illustrators of the '40s and '50s, and to this day is the most popular illustrator in Italy.
