Avtodor Society was created in 1927 to foster the development of auto transport in the USSR. Avtodor was allowed to run statewide lotteries, with proceeds earmarked for road improvements, and for creating a network of driving schools. The names Boris Titov and Efim Pernikov are well known to collectors of Soviet Constructivist book graphics. Both were active as magazine illustrators, book illustrators, and poster artists through the 1920s and 1930s. Of necessity, their style had undergone considerable changes in the later period.
