Perhaps the most sought-after of all winter resort posters are Emil Cardinaux's majestic designs of St. Moritz from the 1910s and 1920s. One of the pioneers of Swiss poster design, Cardinaux featured a colorful palette influenced by the Fauve creations of Hodler and Matisse. This sun-dappled image, filled with pastel tones of yellow, purple, green and brown, evokes the gentle beauty of the resort. The peace of the scene is hardly disturbed by cross country skiers and horse drawn sleigh, which are dwarfed by the towering trees and surrounding peaks.

This large format poster (35 x 50 inches) features a rare text variant, highlighting the location of St. Moritz in the Oberengadin region for the Austrian and German market.
