It is an overt reference to the strong impact of the Indonesian colony on Dutch poster art. In Thorn Prikker's skilled hands, the delicate weaving of Javanese motifs amidst san-serif typography is amongst the most beautiful in Art Nouveau art, mesmerizing the viewer.
