Champagne Henriot, 1928

Valerio, Roger de poster: Champagne Henriot

In 1926, Etienne Henriott took over his family's prestigious champagne business that had been founded in 1808. As a trained agronomist, he was the perfect person to take over and lead the family business through its recovery from the phylloxera crisis, a disease that attacked the vineyards. Etienne was very successful and began to expand the business aggressively.

This poster, by leading posterist Roger de Valerio, hails from these exciting years of expansion. The artist cleverly portrays four tuxedoed men of substance seated around a giant bottle of the leading champagne in what wittily resembles a board meeting!
