A Journey Through Time - Louis Vuitton, 1991

Razzia poster: A Journey Through Time - Louis Vuitton

Gerard Courbouleix-Deneriaz, commonly known as Razzia, has been active in the advertising field since the Seventies. Growing up in Montparnasse during the 1960s, he became a successful rock photographer, shooting groups like Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones. Inspired by Art Deco and Surrealism, he turned his hand in the Eighties to poster art, creating more than 100 memorable series for Louis Vuitton, Roland Garros Tennis Tournament, Cannes Film Festival and many others over the last thirty years.

A Journey Through Time cleverly mimics the famous Art Deco Normandie ocean liner poster by AM Cassandre to promote Vuitton’s classic luggage. The lettering around the borders echoes two other posters by Cassandre, the Etoile du Nord and Nord Express, the first two posters that utilized this technique in 1927.

We are fortunate that most of Razzia's posters were printed in open editions, and are available today as hand signed prints. This poster is from the 1991 edition.
