Nordlandfahrten - Hamburg - Amerika Linie (HAPAG), 1937 ca.
Hamburg - America Line created a stunning group of posters for exotic cruise destinations in the late Thirties, when the Depression, immigration quotas and international tensions demanded new approaches.
Unlike many of the liner posters of the decade, its cruise posters focused primarily on the destination, rather than the ship. The goal was to attract a sophisticated traveler to the far corners of the world in search of adventure and natural history. Here leading posterist Albert Fuss evokes a perfect moment that one might experience on an arctic cruise.
