Mode-Ball, 1929

de Zamora, Jose poster: Mode-Ball

A poised debutante is the prime actor in this stunning early Deco poster for a fashion ball in Munich's famous Deutsches Theatre. The event featured Marek Weber, a prominent Austrian band leader and violist who 3 years later would flee the Nazis and become a regular performer on the NBC radio network.

Zamora's graceful line, so evocative of the best of the 1920s transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, served him well - he later became a famous costume designer at the Casino de Paris where Mistinguett, Josephine Baker and other Parisian greats performed.
