Bitter Le Coq, 1930

Nizzoli, Marcello poster: Bitter Le Coq

This strong Art Deco in-store display for a Swiss liqueur was created by Marcello Nizzoli, one of Italy’s most versatile and progressive designers of the Twenties and Thirties. Like Cassandre in France, Nizzoli sought new and daring solutions to advertising in the Machine Age, looking to modern art – Cubism, Futurism, Surrealism and Constructivism - for inspiration. Beautifully printed, Bitter Le Coq is sophisticated, powerful and handsome all at the same time.
