International Jazz Festival, 1989
Schraivogel is considered by many the best poster-maker in Switzerland today. His kaleidoscopic poster for the Zurich Jazz Festival is mesmerizing in its complex design, and ingeniously uses the piano keys at the bottom to list the festival’s performers.
Schraivogel’s work is remarkable for its multi-layered patterning (which is created without computers!) and is reminiscent of Herbert Matter and Wolfgang Weingart in its playfulness and brilliant design solutions. This silkcreen poster won many awards, including Swiss Poster of the Year. Schraivogel’s work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art and other important design collections.
