Harder-Bahn - Interlaken, 1908 ca.

Artist Unknown poster: Harder-Bahn - Interlaken

The Harder-Bahn was a funicular built in 1908 to carry sightseers to the top of the Harder Kulm, a small peak above Interlaken with a great view of the famous Berner Oberland summits (Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau). Still in use, the ride takes 12 minutes and climbs 755 meters with a maximum gradient of 64 percent. One can still have a meal at the restaurant on top.

This poster likely dates from the inaugural of the new line, revealing the magnificent Berner Oberland in the distance. It is an unusually elegant Swiss Art Nouveau style poster. It is the first time we have seen it. In fine condition.
