Cunard to U.S.A. - The Fastest Ocean Service in the World, 1928 ca.

Artist Unknown poster: Cunard to U.S.A. - The Fastest Ocean Service in the World

A majestic poster from the era when oceanliners were symbols of national prestige. The sister ships Lusitania and Mauritania, built by Cunard with British Government support, were intended to surpass the leading German vessels of the day in speed and luxury. They succeeded. In 1907 the Lusitania seized the Blue Ribbon for fastest Atlantic crossing from the German liner Deutschland, and between them Cunard's "Monarchs of the Sea" owned the Atlantic crossing record from 1907 until 1929.
