Cars going down Champs Elysees; red, black, green, blue, beige

A column of streamlined Donnet automobiles speed down the Champs Elysees towards the viewer in this early Art Deco poster masterpiece. The poster announces the arrival of several new models by a leading French automobile company in 1930. The poster was created by Alexi Brodovitch, an exile of the Russian Revolution who went on to become a leading graphic designer in France in the Twenties and early Thirties. Brodovitch would go on to become the design director at Harper’s Bazaar from 1934 – 1958 in New York, where he would revolutionize magazine layout and inspire a generation of young American designers. Note the superb Deco-style lettering which amps up the image's dynamism. Wow!
