A thunderbolt and a burst of flame are all that are needed in this striking image for a gas and electricity exhibition in Copenhagen. The design was created in the Plakatstil, or Poster Style, that became the look of Modernist advertising in Germany and Switzerland early in the new century. Clean and precise, it would be a major forerunner of Art Deco. Henrikksen, a Dane, trained in Copenhagen, contributed to a flowering of poster art in his home country in the Twenties. This rare design is a small gem.
