Gitanes Cigarettes de Choix,
1934 ca.
France established a State Tobacco Monopoly in the seventeenth century, and like most tobacco monopolies, it inhibited development of new brands. When one thinks of French cigarettes, two brands come to mind--Gauloises and Gitanes. Gitanes (Gypsies) was launched in 1910.
