Philips Television, 1951
Cassandre produced this surrealistic design in 1951 for Philips, one of the first television manufacturers. It makes clear that television, like radio, was made possible by invisible waves-- but the transmission was for the eye and not just the ear. It captures the mystery of the new technology that would quickly disappear as production exploded. Apparently the design was never produced in a large format. It is only known in this small size created for a promotional brochure for the printer. In excellent condition.
