Under Private Enterprise…, 1943
Produced in the midst of World War II, this poster presents gleaming products and streamlined technologies--including a bullet train, automobile, jukebox, and refrigerator--as a promise of future abundance for Americans. The Think American Institute was founded in 1939 by a group of business leaders in Rochester, NY, who undertook a prolific poster campaign during the war. Distributed throughout the country, the designs were aimed at encouraging employee loyalty and productivity, aligning the freedom of private industry with wartime patriotism.
