Paper-Mate,
1955
A clever Mid Century advertisement by Swiss graphic designer Herbert Leupin for Paper-Mate pens, depicting a cartoon caricature of an Indigenous person with multicolored pens forming a headdress.
In the mid-fifties, Leupin transitioned out of a hyper-realistic style toward a looser, more relaxed approach. The playful, child-like spirit of the design perfectly fit the message that Paper-Mate pens offered with their rainbow of different color pens. in these years Leupin found inspiration in his children's early drawings and in the simplicity of caricature-based product posters like those of Leonetto Cappiello.
