Be Smart and Brave, and We’ll be Invincible,
1965
"Blasting, a vital strategy in the past, remains useful today. Blasting is a powerful weapon in close combat, and the military army must be well-trained in blasting techniques."
This poster is from a fierce 1965 series promoting Chinese military preparedness. The posters reflected the increasing tension with the Soviet Union over Communist ideology and diverging policy. So real was the concern for war that the Chinese moved industrial and research facilities away from the Soviet border in the Third Line Defense program.
The US build-up in Viet Nam also was a cause for concern to the Chinese - in case hostilities would somehow spill over into China. A complicated web!
