Chillida - Galerie Maeght, 1968
A beautiful original exhibition poster for Eduardo Chillida (1924-2002) at the Galerie Maeght in 1968, depicting one of his iconic black and white abstract designs. Chillida is one of the most significant Spanish artists of the 20th century, known for his large-scale abstract sculptures and public installations in addition to two-dimensional works such as lithographs and etchings. A trained architect, later specializing in drawing and sculpture, he moved to Paris in 1948 and then back to Spain’s Basque Country in 1951. In 1958, he won the Grand International Prize for Sculpture at the Venice Biennale. Chillida's work is purely abstract and highly evocative and worthy of contemplation. There is a muscular, elemental sense to his work, but full of delicacy and interconnectedness. This poster is powerful in its strong opposition of black and white, and creation of positive and negative spaces. In excellent condition. This is an original vintage lithographic poster and is guaranteed to be an original.
