Deutsche Woche, Deutsche Arbeit, Deutsche Ware, 1930 ca.
This is a rare, Bauhaus style typographic image for an exhibition at the University of Art and Design in Halle (Saaler), Germany from around 1930. The geometric typeface is inspired by Herbet Bayer's famous Bayer Universal, which was created in 1925, widely used in the Bauhaus, and is still popular today. The beautiful metallic gold background provides a stunning contrast to the bold geometric lettering.

When the Bauhaus relocated from Weimar to Dessau in 1925, members of the influential German art school came to Halle to teach and develop the Bauhaus tradition. In the late 1920s and 30s, the school flourished as a center of art and craft production. In 1933, the school was taken over by the Nazis and the majority of students and teachers were dismissed.
