Gaba contre la toux! (French Variant), 1935
This is minimalist constructivist design for Gaba throat lozenges with a one word description: Protection! Stoecklin was the father of the Basel School of poster design. He had studied in Munich and returned home before WWI as an already accomplished Surrealist painter. He quickly distinguished himself as a poster artist creating masterpieces in various styles, including the Object Poster, Plakatstil and Avant-Garde design. He became the mentor of Peter Birkhauser and guiding spirit of a coterie of fine young Basler poster artists including Herbert Leupin and Donald Brun. Hi work is in every design museum in the world and is one of the most important fo all Swiss poster designers. In Very Good (B+) condition.
