Hilaire - Galerie "65" Cannes - Peintures et Goauches Recentes, 1971
A rich, vibrant exhibition poster for painter and weaver Camille Hilaire (1916-2004), depicting abstract, painterly, multi-colored palm trees. In excellent condition. Hilaire is a prominent French artist, having studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and worked under the tutelage of Cubist painter André Lhote. He developed his personal style at the intersection of Cubism and figuration, rooted in tradition yet experimenting with abstraction and color. Posters for his art exhibitions at Galerie 65 were printed by Atelier Mourlot, the Parisian studio known for its striking exhibition posters for French galleries and museums. Since the 1920s, its close collaborations with artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Miró, and Chagall made their exhibition posters stunning artistic statements in their own right.
